Post 5 Utopia?

The Setting of the Story is a fantasy Utopia where everyone is happy and eats bountifully. Though for everyone to be happy they must sacrifice one child's happiness in return. It's one of those classic one must suffer for the rest to thrive scenarios. The main point though is that some inhabitants of the Utopia decide to leave despite how good they have it, because seeing the one child suffer is unpleasant for them to live with. For example Guin states, "These people go out into the street, and walk down the street alone. They keep walking, and walk straight out of the city of Omelas, through the beautiful gates." These people leaving are choosing to give up what Guin has been criticizing which is happiness. Those who don't leave but choose to stay are who I truly understand and relate to. Most people have the mindset to get themselves ahead before others which may seem selfish, but if you can get ahead than you can help others with that lead you established.
