Post 7 Theme of My Life

The Theme of my life so far is discovery. Ever since coming into college I have discovered deeper meanings of myself and who I truly am. I realized that I do not always have to meet the social norms and appeal to others, but rather I should appeal to the comfort of myself. I believe making others happy is truly a nice feeling but I also believe that you need to find your own happiness before trying to cater to others. For instance, guys look to find a girlfriend to make them happy, but how can you expect someone to make you happy when they aren't happy with themselves. Gender roles may be the reason some guys feel the need to always be on top of their game. From my perspective I grew up believing in that the man should be stronger, smarter, and financially better than a woman. That changed once I left the rural country side of GA and moved to a more urbanized area and saw that equality was much better. Why have only one person do all the work and be exhausted all the time when we can share the workload and still have time for one another.

  1. I think at this stage in our lives, discovering ourselves and who we are is a central thing for a lot of people. I can relate because I am starting to question my beliefs and I am learning a lot more about myself than I was before. I think a main contributor to this is the fact that we are meeting and coming in contact with different people and are free to explore the world for ourselves without our parents and family being a main influence.

  2. I totally agree with you. Many students just go to college and discover themselves. I don't like one person do all the work, and others are being lazy and selfish about it.

  3. I agree with you a lot, going into college and starting to grow up more it makes you rethink a bunch of things, which is a good thing. Also I like what you said about sharing the workload instead of having one person do it all.

  4. Appealing to yourself is almost always better and i am glad you do that. It allows for you to truly understand what you believe. Everyone has so many different paths ahead of them and those paths are very long, so it is best to find yours yourself then to follow anyone else.
