Post 15 the finale

If I had to recall everything we have read in this class and how important they were than I would probably say tone was what really stuck with me. When I read Dog's Death by John Updike, it really opened me up to how real grief and pain would set the tone in the story and actually make me feel some type of way. In the story the dog tries to hide from her new family in this line, "she crawled beneath the youngest's bed. We found her twisted and limp but still alive. In the car to the vet's, on my lap, she tried" (11-12) and the meaning behind it is what makes me actually sad. The dog doesn't want to get attached to the family as well as vice versa which is really thoughtful since she knew she wasn't going to live for long.
